Urban Vinyl Toys
Urban vinyl is a phrase used to describe a particular genre of designer toy. Urban vinyl toys often feature action figures which are made of vinyl . The term "urban vinyl" is at times used interchangeably with with the phrase designer toy, but this is not strictly correct. Some designer toys are urban vinyl, but urban vinyl is a subset of part of the group of designer toys.
Urban vinyl toys are original designs created in small quantities, and are sold as collectibles (due to their limited edition).
The trend was started by Michael Lau, who created the first urban vinyl figures in the late 1990s. Another famous urban vinyl artist is Japanese designer Takashi Murakami.
Urban vinyl is designated either Eastern Vinyl, (designed and produced in Asia or Australia), or Western Vinyl (designed and produced in North America, South America , or Europe). All sorts of Urban vinyl figures have become collectible items
